3rd Annual Run for Relief ~ APRIL 21, 2012

What: Fun Run/Walk 5K
Professionally timed, men and women age divisions and awards for top individuals
Where: Pioneer Park Square Dance Shelter
Course will start and finish at the same location
When: April 21, 2012
Race Starts at 2pm
Why: To raise funds and awareness for the situation in Burma

*New* Father Son division.
Dad's join your son and enjoy the day. Combined time of fathers time plus sons time will determine the winner

*Flip Flop division* Race the entire 5K wearing only flip flops. Join the people of Burma and 'Walk a Mile' in their shoes.
Golden Sandals will be awarded to this division winner.

Entry fees are $15 per person. Children under 5 are free, but must be registered.
~Late registration is $20 (April 15 through race day)

Sport tek T-shirts come with the entry fee, available to the first 250 people

Early bib pick up will be available Saturday, April 14 2012 at Take 5 Cafe & Bakery between 4-7 pm. This is also the last day for early registration rates.

The course route will be the same, a flat & fast out and back along the Chena river on the bike path behind the Carlson Center. It will start and finish at Pioneer Park Square Dance Hall.

This year the race will be held in conjunction with Mission ConneXion which will be taking place in the Borealis building at Pioneer Park that day.

Julia Mayer, first finisher in womens division.

It was a rainy morning, but that did not stop hundreds of people coming out to participate and support the 2nd Annual Run for Relief in Fairbanks Alaska. Despite the steady drizzle 104 people still completed and crossed the finish line.

Prizes were given to the top 2 in each class and overall top 3 finishers. This year was the first year to have a flip flop division in which we had 6 competitors. Michael Golub was the first to cross with a time of 31:37 and the first female was Jewel Healy. Jewel did the entire course in flip flops last year which inspired this years formal class.
